A little help along the way.
From joining the beta to picking up your next chapter, here are a few things that can help.

Join the Android beta
Forge & Fable is currently in closed testing on Google Play. You’ll need Android 8.0 or later. Complete these steps in order, using the same Google account throughout:
- Join the Forge & Fable Beta Testers group.
- Open the Google Play testing page and choose Become a tester.
- Install Forge & Fable from Google Play.
“Content unavailable” or a missing Play listing?
Check that you have joined the Google Group and opted in to the test. Joining the group alone doesn’t complete the process. Make sure the account selected in Google Groups, the testing page, and the Play Store is the same one.
If you have just joined, allow a little time for access to update, then reopen the links. A work or school Google account may have restrictions set by its administrator.
Bring your books
Import local audiobooks and ebooks from your device. Forge & Fable includes EPUB, PDF, and MOBI readers. The app doesn’t include a bundled library of downloadable books; you bring your own files or connect your chosen sources.
When a source isn’t available
Your local library, imported ebooks, and already-downloaded audiobooks stay available when an online provider has problems.
- Temporarily unavailable: wait a little and retry. A provider outage usually doesn’t require changing your credentials.
- Authorization failed: check the provider account and re-enter its key or token in Settings if needed.
- Could not be reached: check Wi-Fi or mobile data, VPN settings, and whether other apps can connect.
- Rate-limited: wait before retrying.
- Still preparing: the provider may need more time to prepare a book before it can stream.
For custom sources, use Sources → Test to check the connection. Optional TorBox and Real-Debrid connections use your own provider account.
A download has stopped
Check the download’s status in Downloads. A paused download needs to be resumed. A failed download can be retried manually. Temporary problems are retried automatically, but an expired credential or unavailable file may need attention first.
If a downloaded title won’t open, that may be a file or reader problem rather than an online provider outage. Avoid clearing the app’s data as a first step: that removes your local library and settings.
Keep a copy of your library records
Use the app’s manual backup and restore features to move library records and progress between installations. Backups don’t include your book files or provider credentials, so keep your original files and reconnect authenticated sources when restoring.
Share feedback
Visit the beta tester group to share feedback. Include what you were trying to do, the app version, and the friendly error message if one appeared. The group is public, so leave out credentials and personal information.
Read the privacy policy for details about on-device information and optional online services.
